A side sewer connection on Mercer Island sounds straightforward until you hit something unexpected underground, and that's exactly what happened here. Partway through the work, the crew encountered an existing asbestos sewer pipe at the connection point, which meant the original scope had to expand to handle it safely and correctly.
Our team excavated the sewer trench, exposed and carefully connected to the existing line, and installed the new side sewer with proper bedding, backfill, and grade throughout. The unexpected asbestos pipe added extra care to the process, but communication with the property owner stayed clear as the additional work came up. The full project wrapped in five days, leaving the property with a properly installed, reliable connection to the existing sewer system.
