Relocating Drainage Infrastructure in Kirkland, WA

Working eighteen inches from a live gas line doesn't leave much room for error, and that was the reality of this Kirkland storm drainage project from day one. The site was an untouched roundabout with existing utilities and protected trees packed into a tight footprint, and the storm infrastructure needed to be relocated and improved to meet City of Kirkland requirements for Sockeye Construction Group's residential project, without disturbing any of it.

Our team installed a new storm catch basin and connection, working carefully around the gas line and coordinating with an arborist to protect the nearby trees throughout the excavation and backfill. Partway through, the inspector directed a change to 8-inch SDR 35 PVC pipe to maintain proper clearance from the gas line, and the crew adapted to that field change without losing momentum. The full project came together in about a week, delivering a compliant storm drainage connection on a budget of $20,000.
